Well, you have to consider that even though dogs are similar in terms of their overall characteristics, they still differ a lot. You can incorporate this issue with their eating habits because some dogs gain weight easily and some do not.

On the other hand, you can apply the same technique when they are still in their early stage where most of their characteristics aren’t very significant yet.

Dog Feeding

Puppies are adorable and as long as you want to cuddle it, they must not be separated from they mother before they are 8 – 10 weeks old. This is the time where their mothers tend to them by providing nutrition and antibodies that will make them healthy in the future.

Some puppies eat a little solid food after some time but others are late bloomers. When puppies prefer the person’s company over their mom’s, they are ready to be fed at home with you.

Feeding puppies is quite easy since they are many puppy foods available in pet shops and supermarkets. The most important thing to consider is the nutritional benefits that these puppy foods provide.

You have to make sure that you give your puppy the food that provides a balanced diet – with the right amount of calcium, protein, and calories. If you’re puppy had an upset stomach because of the food you have purchased, you must visit the veterinarian and change the puppy food.

Also, make sure that when you’re feeding your puppy, you’re consistent. That means if you plan on feeding them in the kitchen every day, then feed them in the kitchen every day. Don’t feed them in their dog crate one day and then the kitchen the next. Consistency is key!

Remember that you’re going to want to elevate your dog’s bowl off of the ground when they’re eating. Dogs, especially when they’re puppies, are vulnerable to choking when eating their food. By getting an elevated dog bowl, you’re able to ease your dog’s neck when eating!

Dangerous Food

Even though humans can consume a specific type of food, it doesn’t mean that your puppy of dog can eat it too. In fact, food that we really love such as chocolates and nuts can cause severe damages to your dogs and even death.

You have to understand that dogs have a different metabolism than humans so you better start knowing about the foods that are dangerous for your dog.

Here are some of the dangerous foods that you don’t want to feed you dogs:

  • Avocado
  • Food ON the bone such as fish, poultry and other meat products
  • Chocolates and food with caffeine
  • Grapes, raisins, and currants
  • Macadamia nuts
  • Dairy products
  • Raw eggs
  • Raw meat
  • Food with lots of sugar

Canned Food and Dry Food

You can impose any diet to your dog that will help them grow healthy and strong. Whether it’s dry or canned food, the most important thing is that you have to get some food that will provide a healthy balanced diet to your dog.

Well, canned food is wet and can be very inviting to your dog – in fact, this is one delicious food that your dog can get addicted to! If you opt for canned food, you have to be prepared to brush your dog’s teeth regularly since this kind of dog food leaves a lot of plaque and tartar.

On the other hand, dry food is great if you’re quite short in budget. It’s cheap and it lasts longer than canned food – if your dog leaves it today, it can still be eaten on the next day.

It is dry and molds don’t often stay in this kind of food. However, your dog might be bored of eating dry food everyday so you can switch dry food from canned food sometimes.

Dog feeding also depends on your budget and your dog’s reaction to the food you provide – if it gains weight easily on canned food, you have to implement a dry food diet.
